Bolivia to Sanction Rogue Governors

La Paz, Sep 4 (Prensa Latina)

The Bolivian government has decided to sanction the authorities of regions that carry out measures of force that damage the national economy, such as roadblocks.

According to Vice President Alvaro Garcia, the opposition prefects of Pando, Beni, Santa Cruz, and Tarija will be taken to court if they support roadblocks that affect the population.

Garcia recalled that on Wednesday, those leaders, grouped in the so called National Democratic Council (CONALDE) also discussed the possible taking of plants distributing natural gas to Brazil and Argentina which, he said, is an act of vandalism.

Those measures intend to thwart the popular referendum for the approval of the Constitution, convened by decree for December 7.
