The Bolivia Action Solidarity Network (BASN) is a coordinated response to the violent campaign of the Bolivian oligarchy, incited and supported by foreign interests. We are deeply concerned about the balkanization plans that the Bolivian right is following. However, this concern does not paralyze us but instead expresses itself in a creative and militant solidarity attitude and purpose. As members of different organizations acting in solidarity with the Bolivian people and as residents of several major cities in Canada and Quebec (Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, Gatineau, and Ottawa), we have decided to coordinate our efforts, unite in our mission of solidarity, and create a new framework that will assist and reflect the advances of Bolivia’s heroic people. Our actions and processes will complement and support those taken by different Canadian unions, coalitions, solidarity committees, and social organizations. We also intend to develop a conscious effort to develop linkages among social movements and organizations between Bolivia and Canada.
